Opened Doors

So the 30 students here are split up to three different campuses: HPU downtown, UH Monoa, and KCC (a community college). I'm going to be outreaching at HPU downtown this summer. It's so strange to be on this campus, because well, it's not really your usual campus. The classrooms are split up between 6 different buildings, where there are only some classes in some buildings throughout a block of businesses!

I found it really hard to determine who the students were and where they would hang out. From what we have heard from the local businesses is that most of the Locals come and go as classes end, but it was mainly the international students that hung out in this area. It was kinda discouraging, because our whole project is based on relational ministry, and how can we do that if we can't find students?!

Anyway, just a little story I wanted to share about God literally opening doors! My partner Joel and I were just looking around the different buildings and decided to go to the library of the LB building. We went to the 2nd and 5th floors which were the library floors and found nothing. We decided to head back down and as we got into the elevator another guy came in, and I had accidentally pressed the "M" button thinking it was the main floor, while the other guy pressed the "star" button, which is obviously the floor we needed to get on. As the door opened for the mistaken button pushed, a bunch of international students filled that room, and then the door closed. Joel and I were pretty much in shock of what we had just seen and once we got on the 1st floor we were trying to decide whether or not to go back up. We kinda brushed it off and as we were about to walk to the exit, the other elevator randomly opened. No one was there, no buttons were pushed, so seriously, I believe God opened that elevator door! We decided that we would go back to the M floor, and started to talk to an international student. Of course the person that we talked to spoke the same language that Joel did!!! So we found out where the international students hung out, and various things about the campus!

God is so awesome! Even though the campus didn't seem lively, he provided people that we could talk to. I believe that our focus on reaching locals is going to change to reaching international students on the campus we're at. What's cool is that one of the admissions office assistants told us that many international students come to school there and then go back to their home country to apply what they have learned! Imagine what God can do with these international students not only affecting their school in Hawaii, but also going back and spreading God's love to their countries?!!!? Crazy, right?

So prayers for this time:
- That we can have opportunities to speak to international students
- Support Raising!!: $525 left!
- That our team would not get burnt out

Update/Praises:
(I wrote this blog yesterday, and already God has been answering prayers)
- Two people from our group met some international students and shared the gospel with them in their language
- Our team has been meeting more and more students

Yayy. God is good!
